Wanna Go Shopping?

Jonah sure loves his shopping cart! He is so cute pushing it around. Here you can see he has it loaded up with...SHOES! That's my boy! Or more accurately... that is my sister's boy. You see, his Auntie Em is very notorious for buying shoes. In fact, she even buys for Jonah! I don't think I've purchased any shoes for him. They are either hand-me-downs or gifts from Emily! Auntie Em also gave him the shopping cart!
I hereby dedicate this blog post to Emily and feature her this week, in honor of her BIRTHDAY that is coming up on Friday, March 4!

It's Raining, It's Pouring

Today it has been raining and pouring,
but I don't think there has been any old man snoring.
No little man snoring, either. (he took a nap just fine, but I didn't hear a peep out of him)
After nap time I dressed him in his rain gear and let him go out on the back deck.
He sure was cute all suited up!

First, he had to check it out...see what's out there.

He was a little hesitant and cautious in the beginning. Then he warmed up...and hammed up. He was so so so cute out there.
He loved it!

(please don't ask me what's going on with his one pant leg up and one pant leg down...have you ever tried to dress a moving target?)

Well, I recorded some video of him out there and it is really cute. However, I had the camera turned the wrong way, so the video is sideways. sorry about that.

and then, much to his dismay, it was time to come inside.

A Splish, a Splash, and a Streak!

today's bath was fun!!
jonah loved playing in the water, as usual.
and, of course, he was his usual cuteness.

he really is such a "pretty" baby. i hope he never needs counseling from me saying that.
photoshop is lots of fun too. even i can come out with a good looking picture if i work at it!
(jonah makes it easier, though)

then, mr. beautiful decided to show off his wild side! (equally cute, if you ask me)
he took off streaking through the living room which left me chasing him with a diaper (and camera)
just look at that face...can't you just hear his mischievous little laugh!

and...well, he found the remote. isn't this what every little boy  likes most...
being  naked and having control of a remote.
that's our boy! love him.

Why, Oh Why, Didn't I Lock the Dog's Crate?

I know that Jonah likes to crawl in the dog crate. I know that he will do so given the opportunity. So, why, oh why, did I fail to close and lock the dog crate when I let the dog out this morning? And WHY did I let him crawl back in a 2nd time...OH YEAH...I guess so I could share it with you. Yeah, that's it, that's why I did it. All in the name of a blog post. It has nothing to do with negligence on my part, right?

Well, if you enjoy this video, then it will make the dog hair on his clothes worthwhile. So, just click on the video, smile, and ENJOY it... please!

How To: ClipYour Baby's Nails

Have you every tried to clip a baby's fingernails? Have you every tried to clip my baby's fingernails? Difficult. Very tricky. One wiggle and it's all over. The fingers are tiny, thus tiny little nails to trim. Tiny, but sharp when unattended. So, here I go again to tame the weapons growing at the end of his fingers. What to do? How do I do this...then....the LIGHTBULB. Thank you YouTube.

 Here is my solution:

This video captured my baby's attention and I was able to trim his nails before it was even done playing.
You wanna see him enjoying it? Here ya go:

I wonder if this method will work for haircuts?

To Change or Not to Change, That is the Question!

You may notice a bit of a different "look" on the ole blog today. And many other days. I think I've gone through 4 different backgrounds this month. Today, I had everything on the other side and back again. I can't find a layout I'm totally happy with. I think this comes from not being able to re-arrange the furniture in my house. (no I'm  not pregnant/nesting) I get a crazy itch to re-arrange everything from time to time. However, our house is very not conducive to re-arrangement. So, don't get to attached. The blog may look different tomorrow. And/or the next day too.

perhaps i should focus all this arranging energy on doing the dishes or *said in a very quiet whisper* putting away laundry. that pesky laundry won't jump on the hanger by itself. and it takes up the space in the laundry basket so i can't run a fresh load.

while i'm laundering and re-arranging my kitchen counter (you know, like uncovering it and putting things in their rightful places) sit back and enjoy some pictures of jonah's latest work.
as it turns out, he likes to re-arrange too!

the cokes were nice and tidy in their little box. he re-arranged till they were all in the basket.

then he set to work on the coat closet. all the mittens and scarves ended up out of the closet.

Weekend Update: Snowball Story!

Jonathan: (looking out the window) I really want to make a snowball.
Me: (hesitant and slightly surprised)ok, well, what's stopping you?
Jonathan: Well, I'm not outside.
Me: Well, yeah, that would be a big factor.

*few minutes later*

Jonathan: Ok, I'm going out to work on the alternator.
Me: ok, have fun

*few minutes after that*

Happy Husband...Happy Dog... Happy Saturday!

(poor Jonah really wanted in on the snowball building. he watched out the window for quite a while, but then he had to go take a nap)

Ink Blots: What do you see?

This one makes me think of a lobster in a basket.

This one makes me think of an airplane flying over linoleum.

An entire story could be written about each, I'm sure. The true story is these are cute pictures of a cute boy trying on his (handsome) daddy's snow mittens.

What do they make you think of?
(please tell me, I really want to know)

Mid-Week Munchies: Crescent Roll Pizza

Well, here it is. The food portion of the Atkins' Adventures. This is a blog-post segment dedicated more to food than people. We have all kinds of food adventures (read: trying new recipes). I had two last week that completely disappointed me. Like, catastrophic waste-of-good-food disappointment. One was Sweet Potato Hashbrowns, the other was White Bean Dip. I think they were especially disappointing because I love hashbrowns (and sweet potatos, for that matter) and, I also love bean dip... usually (proof that one should never trust a Paula Deen recipe that doesn't include butter!). Anyway, I am not to be deterred. I will continue trying new recipes, cause I am a food lover at heart!

Crescent Roll Pizza
I've got these in my oven right now. So, while they are baking I'll tell you how I made them.

Preheat oven to 375* (according to the crescent roll package)
roll out dough
spread on pizza sauce
add cheese and any other desired toppings (I used those cute little mini-pepperonis)
roll

bake (11-13 min...according to crescent roll package)

Then, immdediately put away all your left-over ingrendients, before a little husband-mouse comes along and nibbles on them.
EAT!

Thank you dear kitchen, you did not let me down today! This recipe is a keeper!

Cookie Monster

Well, the truth of the matter is our little cutie has an ugly side. Cookies turn him into a grade-A monster!!

And the other truth of the matter is that he comes by it honest. I always want more of those cookies too!!
(side note: Nestle Toll House is the best recipe for chocolate chip cookies. I buy the choc. chips and follow the recipe on the back...do not let them over cook, in fact, as undercooked as possible...just enough to hold together is the BEST method (if you ask me). Oh, and make sure you use real butter!)

Here he is "asking" (but, not very nicely)
"uhhh, uhhh, uhhh"
as he reaches and goes up on his toes to try to reach for more
look at that sweet little pitiful face.

And now he's really serious about his fit. Too bad you can't hear his plea...it's kind of cute.

Oh, here. I recorded a video:
I don't know that it fully captures the fit-throwing...which might be for the best. I probably shouldn't showcase him at his very worst, right?!

Swept Away

Jonah has found the broom. He can get it out of it's resting spot. So, now anytime he walks by, he stops to check on the broom. Here, you can see his handiwork! He is so cute. I can't catch him on video. He drops the broom and comes for the camera. Gotta run and rescue him from himself now, so enjoy the pictures!
