Who Let the Dog Out?

Ok, who among you has that song running through your head right now? What? Not yet? How about now that I've mentioned it? "Who Let the Dogs Out...WHOOO, Who, Who? Who Let the Dogs Out?"

Alright, enough of that. 

Jonah is pretty proud of his ability to open Harry's crate. He likes to let him out each morning. 

This video is 100% authentic. I did not help him in any way...no body had touched the crate since bedtime the night before.

I think the dog and the boy are coming to some sort of mutual agreement. They don't seem to bother one another quite as much. I'm sure this could change again any day. And there is always an exception to every rule. As long as they are in a shared space there is risk of them colliding/clashing. But, for now we are going to enjoy their mutual tolerance of one another.

 Jonah, please don't kiss the dog. Harry, please don't lick my child in the face.

Weekend Update: out of towners

We had a fun visit last weekend. Jonathan's brother, Daniel, & his wife, Riss, came to visit from Oklahoma. They planned their arrival to hit Lamberts right before the dinner rush. We ate an early supper & stuffed ourselves to the rim. 

(Jonathan was busy working Friday, so he wasn't able to join us for this outing)

Then, Saturday, Riss, Jonah, and I went shopping while Jonathan and Daniel did this:

Obviously, this is not a picture of Jonathan OR Daniel. They left their valuables behind and therefore, had not means of capturing photo/video. Just looking at this picture almost makes me hyperventilate. (it's either the picture or the coffee I had this morning) 

They had a great time...and I'm glad they had each other for this outing, because that is NOT at the top of my list on things that sound fun safe. They LOVED it!

The entire weekend ended much to quickly. We'd love to live closer & have more frequent visits.

With Some Ink and a Smile!

Well, it's more like some ink and a laugh, but "ink and a smile" rolls of the tongue a little more easily...and there will be smiling on the face of anyone who wanders over to read about our adventures today.

One day this week our sweet angel found an ink pen. And thankfully the only thing I've found that he drew on was...a piece of paper. Isn't he great!?! He makes good choices even without my instruction. That, or it was a fluke and I got lucky. Ah, well, call it what you want, either way the kid is great.  Oh, ok, the paper wasn't the only thing he drew on. He drew on his face, too, but only a little (maybe because i caught him).

 i do not know what is going on with that facial expression. i think the camera caught him mid-blink.

there is ink on his cheek...and also a little above his lip on the opposite side.

one day next week i may have to dedicate an entire post to teeth.

Ok. I told you there was a smile. Yes, he's smiling in the above photo, but I've got one even better. You want to hear his great from-the-gut/ crack-me-up laugh? I caught a little on video. (never mind the parts that sound forced. we are lucky to have this footage, since he usually stops when I turn on the camera)

  I was making a face at him to get him to laugh.

Remembering Stubby

Did you ever have a family pet? You know, the one that everyone loves and will never forget? The one you remember growing up with? I sure do. Her name was Wendy. She was my parents' first child! I grew up with her. She died when I was 12. I will never forget that day and I will never forget that dog. We all loved her. 

Well, this morning Jonathan called me when he got to work. He got an email from his mom telling him their beloved Stubby was gone. I only knew Stubby for a few years, but hearing this still made me sad. I know Jonathan and his family are a little more sad than I. 

So, here's to Stubby and all beloved family pets.

Ready for Spring: digging some dirt

for the longest time (like, all winter) we had a huge pile of mulch sitting in our front yard. it was given to us by some kind neighbors who had extra. we fully intended to put it on the flower bed before it froze.  then, well, we never did it. then it snowed and the pile disappeared...for a time. 

now that spring has peeked around the corner, we finally got out and tackled the mulch pile. 

jonah helped.

the car adventure

This is my lovely car.

This happens a lot. Unfortunately.

(we took this picture last summer when the car really had major problems. thankfully our current problem has not require a tow)

I've been without it for a couple of days now. I am very thankful to understanding/gracious people  in my life (aka: my employers) who have majorly eased the inconvenience. This most recent problem is not a big deal. It is something Jonathan can fix (he's pretty handy), but finding the time to fix it is becoming an issue.

I will spare you the boring details. And let's all say a little prayer that it gets fixed before 2pm this afternoon!
